Many of the nominated stories are no-sex stories. As in not a bit of sex in them. The clitorides awards were created to promote the erotica writing community; even the name 'clitorides' is a reminder of that.So my question to the community is: Should no-sex stories be eligible for the awards?Lazeezhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11172585468675496098noreply@blogger.com71tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8900593.post-58745927008914485532007-12-02T19:48:00.000-05:002008-01-03T01:27:56.581-05:00New Clitorides Awards SiteHello everyone,Back on February 15th, 2007, Souvie posted the following in message on Usenet in the ASSD group (alt.sex.stories.d) id Message-ID: <dqk9t2tihhc7as6cf8qv704v44utjfqttk@4ax.com>:> I will not be running the awards next year, someone else has taken them over. The new system has the ability to deliver long stories or long chapters in multiple pages.Explanation:Storiesonline is a busy site. Very busy site. The number of basic votes cast per day added to the number of TPA votes cast per day is about 30% higher than the previous week's number of basic votes cast. So it seems that many people were not using the Lazeezhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11172585468675496098noreply@blogger.com41tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8900593.post-37410951343350979652006-12-20T21:19:00.000-05:002006-12-30T13:24:24.159-05:00Scoring System Changes ImplementedWell, it's done.Today, I implemented the display changes to show the new system in action. You can read the previous entries in this blog to see how these changes came about.First change is the voting forms. The old form has been redesigned with the new look and the wording has changed. It's very close to the temporary change that I implemented at the beginning of December, but with one major Lazeezhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11172585468675496098noreply@blogger.com42tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8900593.post-85033426882509438222006-12-14T18:21:00.000-05:002006-12-14T19:35:55.835-05:00Expanded Voting Form: Wording and Value distibutionI'm working on implementing the new optional expanded voting form referenced in my previous blog entry Final Decisions. I need some feedback about the wording of the voting form. The form will have three separate criteria for the reader to select values for and I want it to be clear enough about the meaning of each. So for each criteria, I need a short, concise sentence that goes under each optionLazeezhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11172585468675496098noreply@blogger.com102tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8900593.post-7992968980438074282006-12-10T15:18:00.000-05:002006-12-10T15:21:47.483-05:00Weekly Download Counter ChangeI've made an important change to the site today. Tonight will be the last night that weekly counters are all reset to zero. From now on the system will keep track of the last seven days individually for each story. So, the weekly counters will now reflect a story's downloads in the last seven days regardless of which day you view the listings.Previously, the site kept track of weekly downloads Lazeezhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11172585468675496098noreply@blogger.com21tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8900593.post-59555559785335834112006-12-08T14:29:00.000-05:002023-04-05T15:33:39.802-04:00Final DecisionsI want to thank everybody that commented and contributed to the discussions in the three previous blog entries, and who made suggestions. Too many authors asked for the removal of their stories from the site. Sorry for all the trouble. This is a follow up to my previous blog entry about the changes to the scoring system. If you haven't read that one, please check it to see what this whole thing is about. This follow up is to address as many of the comments that have been received so far as possible.A Lazeezhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11172585468675496098noreply@blogger.com47tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8900593.post-1165015439256504792006-12-01T18:14:00.000-05:002007-02-02T11:28:54.423-05:00Scoring System ChangesSince implementing the scoring system on the site in 1999, it has been the only controversial part of the whole site. Many users found it useful, some didn't trust it and some ignored it.To authors it's even more troublesome. Many authors expect the score to tell them how they did in their writing, they wanted it to reflect the effort that they put into the story regardless of the story's contentLazeezhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11172585468675496098noreply@blogger.com137tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8900593.post-1162934116094403072006-11-07T16:14:00.000-05:002006-11-07T16:16:59.766-05:00Recent Site ChangesI made few changes to the site in the past few days. I thought I'd talk about them a bit.The first two changes are in the way the voting mechanism and the feedback mechanism work at the end of stories. I've added some JavaScripts to make the forms submit to the site and return feedback without having to reload the whole page. The reason for the change is to make a better user interface. Or should I say, I'm dissatisfied with something. Story classification.Currently, the site uses codes to classify stories, but this method has significant shortcomings in my view. It does not distinguish between main themes or story types from minor activities.I want to create an additional classification system that focuses only on main story types or genres, for example: Lazeezhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11172585468675496098noreply@blogger.com112tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8900593.post-1129339308300805672005-10-14T21:15:00.000-04:002005-10-14T21:21:48.306-04:00New story reviewing systemWell, the new reviewing system is mostly finished.I revamped the review display page completely and made it accessible to everybody. This was a frustrating weekend.
Inexplicably, still, some people are unable to access the site. The servers are online as usual. The DNS entries for the site are configured correctly. So why some Comcast, then Earthlink and now MSN users are unable to access the site? I don't know, and can't figure it out yet. Most of the problem areas were cleared yesterday about 1 pm - as evidenced by a Lazeezhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11172585468675496098noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8900593.post-1114098436260038192005-04-21T11:46:00.000-04:002005-04-23T10:43:44.606-04:00The site's new layoutI've been receiving quite a bit of comments and reports about the site's new layout currently available in the beta area of the site. Some favourable, some not.The most common negative common so far is that there is nothing wrong with the current layout, so no need to change, and don't fix what isn't broken.Maybe from a reader's point of view, who's been using the site for a while and used to theLazeezhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11172585468675496098noreply@blogger.com17tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8900593.post-1105468008662744042005-01-11T13:26:00.000-05:002005-01-11T13:26:48.663-05:00Biting more than you can chew, without realizing it!As many of you who've read the previous entries in this blog know, I'm working on a new reviewing system for the site. I have the feature set ready and have already started with the implementation. However, I've hit few snags.
Let me tell you a bit about my way of developing features. I don't work in a conventional manner. I learned programing on my own, as in no formal training, and over time Lazeezhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11172585468675496098noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8900593.post-1100543313188837242004-11-15T13:26:00.000-05:002004-11-15T13:28:33.186-05:00Reader Feedback 101Some authors on the site often beg for reader feedback, and some others contacted me and complained that the site's feedback system is not working for them, or is broken.
I took it upon myself to test various issues with the feedback system.
The biggest thing that I've noticed is that authors explicitly asking for feedback or complaining that the system does not work, do not answer their fan Lazeezhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11172585468675496098noreply@blogger.com43tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8900593.post-1099674727537785302004-11-05T13:10:00.000-05:002004-11-09T15:17:38.916-05:00New Review System and Other NotesI read all the comments on the previous post. One important issue that most of those expressing their opinions keep forgetting: the voting system should serve reader goals as well as author goal. While authors view story scores as a kind of feedback - which it is, an author should not forget that the score should also help readers decide what to read and what not to read.
